Hello and welcome to my Career Change Pathways blog! My name is Janet Cranford, and my purpose in writing this blog is to share ideas and tips for working and living more authentically after 50.
I’m a career coach. I work with people over 50 who plan to continue working and want their work to be an expression of who they are. Not someone else’s idea of who they are.
People who may have kept their work separate from the rest of their lives, but now want to somehow make it whole, make it fit together.
Getting to Know You
It’s funny, though… I always talk about how important it is to be real and share your gifts with others. But lately I realized I haven’t been “walking my own talk”.
I started my website, Career Change Pathways, as a way to provide you with helpful information about changing careers after 50. It’s doing well in the search engines – people are visiting, some are contacting me. But still, there’s something missing. It just doesn’t feel like it’s coming from my heart. There’s no spark.
So it finally occurred to me that what I want is to have a conversation. As a coach, I love the feeling of connecting deeply with another soul, not just writing articles and wondering who’s reading them. So I’m hoping this blog will allow that dialogue to happen.
I’d like to speak more authentically, and I’d like to hear your voice. I want to hear your thoughts, ideas, and experiences, anything you’d like to share. You can leave your comments on the blog itself or send me a message through my Contact form. Either way, I appreciate what you have to say.
What You Can Expect
So what kind of topics can you expect to see in my blog? And what does “working and living authentically” mean?
I would love for you to let me know what topics interest you. But you can expect to see posts about:
- Self-discovery
- Making a career change after 50
- How to communicate who you are – your personal brand
- Job search strategies for people in midlife and beyond
- Ideas for combining work and life after 50
You may also see more than a few posts exploring what it means to be a Baby Boomer today, and how we and every generation need to work together to make this world a better place.
As for “working and living authentically”, that will be the topic of my next post.
Here’s to getting to know you!

I’m going through career transition (I’m in culinary school) and it’s scary, exhilarating, exactly what I thought, not at all what I expected!
But I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Cheers!
Yes! It may be like a roller coaster ride at times, but the feeling of being fully alive makes it all so worthwhile. I took a look at your blog – what a beautifully-written, funny account of your new adventure!
All the best to you!
