Ansir: Discover How To Work On Purpose

The Ansir test offers a different approach to career assessment. It doesn't measure your skills or interests. It doesn't attempt to match you with one general personality type. What it does do is focus on your unique strengths and what's right about you.

The test is based on your self-perception... your own truth. The idea is that no one knows you better than you do. The emphasis is on self-awareness and personal development. The first step is to become aware of your strengths. The next step is to accept the responsibility for using that information consciously... for living and working on purpose.

The founder of Ansir, which stands for "A New Standard in Relating", stresses the importance of reaching your potential before it's too late. When your work is both meaningful and purposeful, it's more likely your potential will be realized. And when everyone is fulfilled and acting from their strengths, the entire community will benefit.

Unique Styles For The Different Sides Of You

Your Ansir profile is unique. No two profiles are exactly alike. According to Ansir, there are 14 core styles in 7 categories which represent innate strengths and tendencies. The test acknowledges your spiritual and intuitive sides, and looks at how you typically respond or behave in the following 3 areas:

  1. Thinking - how you solve problems, process information, apply knowledge
  2. Working - how you consciously apply knowledge based on your particular skills and abilities
  3. Emoting - how you unconsciously respond based on your emotions and feelings

The test also assigns you a Profile Boss, which is your dominant strength. This is what determines your life purpose, your reason for being. Your other 2 styles or strengths serve and help fulfill your life purpose.

If you look at the table, you'll see the 7 categories listed in the gray rows. To the right of each category is that group's "keenest intellect". This is how you know something is right for you. For instance, Physicals know what's right for them through physical interaction with their environment. Next to each of the 14 styles is a brief word or two describing the unique strength associated with each.

Find Out Your Styles

The Ansir test consists of 168 questions and takes about 30 minutes to complete. As with all career assessment tests, it's important to be honest with yourself and make sure that your answers are truly your own. In fact, you're encouraged to take the test over until it fits how you view yourself.

Before you can take the test you must register by providing your email address and some basic information, then you select a member name and password. The website has a privacy policy, which makes a point about not sharing information with others.

The free Profile gives you a brief report about each of your 3 styles. You can pay to get a longer report ($9.95 as of 2008), which gives you an in-depth discussion of your 3 styles, plus brief descriptions of your life purpose and your greatest life challenge. You also get a list of careers chosen by people with your dominant strength, plus aptitudes, work characteristics, and work style. I found it to be amazingly accurate.

You can take the test at the Ansir Opens new windowwebsite. If you'd like to discuss your results and explore what they might mean for your career change, please contact me.
