About Janet Cranford

Janet Cranford As a Career and Life Transition Coach, my mission is to serve as a catalyst for you to realize your potential and to claim what you stand for.

I am passionate about helping you open up your vision and find new direction. I believe that when the work you do is an expression of your values and your purpose, it flows naturally and can't help but benefit others.

In addition to being a career coach, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a former CPA. My professional background includes over 25 years combined experience in non-profit management, counseling, and coaching.

I received my Masters in Social Work (MSW) from Florida International University and coach training from the Institute for Life Coach Training. I have also earned certifications as a Retirement Coach and a Career Clarity Coach. I am committed to lifelong learning.

How Did I Become A Coach?

Career Change Pathways is the product of my own search for meaningful work. I know what it's like to feel stuck and unsure about my direction. I spent many years in a career that I "fell into". In my late 30's I began to feel a discomfort with my career choice. The work I was doing did not reflect who I was.

When I was 40, a series of events occurred which led me to face my own mortality. My priorities changed. I began to feel a strong sense of connectedness with others. That was the push I needed to leave a career that was so unfulfilling to me. I knew my new work had to be an expression of who I am and, at the same time, a vehicle for serving others and helping them find work that they love.

I've both worked and volunteered with hospice. I've sat with too many people at the end of their lives who expressed regrets about not pursuing their dreams, who felt like they had not made a difference in this life. I knew I didn't want that, and I decided that my best contribution would be to inspire people like you to discover and act upon your dreams for a meaningful career change.

My Mission

I am committed to helping you clarify and claim your life purpose and decide how you will contribute your natural gifts to the world. My wish is to share some of the things I've learned along the way, with the hope of inspiring you in your own journey.

It can be so freeing to connect with and reclaim yourself, and to learn how to trust your own instincts and intuition. Most of us have spent too many years listening to the "shoulds" and "oughts" of others. It can be so amazing when you feel good about what you do and at the same time are able to express who you are.

An early meaning of the word "career" was "carrier of meaning", a path providing structure, direction, and significance to life. I like to think of a career as a personal, unique path out of the many available, fluid and open, a true expression of who you are.

Changing careers can be all about transformation and renewal. Wouldn't you like to explore and create a new chapter in your life? Discover your "right livelihood"?

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I would love to hear from you.

All the best,
Janet
